Had a wonderful Christmas hope you also did too!

We now nickname Alva (the eldest) by her new title of "Agatha Christie" as a result of the crime novel she is now writing and taking very seriously (these kids are so creative I love it!)...

Theres a family heirloom we have that she believes to be haunted and a little scary,...its a Victorian  dated original painting of her Great Great Grandmother (my Great Grandma) that bears a slight resemblence to little Alva a bit (much to her suspicion haa.)

The name Alva actually means 'Elf' in Norwegian, named such as she inherited ancestry in Norway from her other side/ family. Makes me also wonder that althoulgh Derby's 'Alvaston' could well be named after an "individual called Ælfwald", could it be possible the place name could have been named "the town/villaige of Elfs" and have a connection to Norway in some way? After all , although the viking settlement in Repton in 873-874 AD Derbyshire are assumed to be that of "southern Scandinavia, possibly Denmark" , of which its obvious a percentage of Derby natives would likely be descended, it can't be ruled out these viking settlers could have come from Norway and if so were the ones to name Alvaston its curious name?

But who knows, my ansestry from my British side is Welsh so I'll leave that one for Derby folk to figure out I think...

Happy New Year
